About the Journal of Fertility Biomarkers

Advancing reproductive science through rigorous research on biomarkers that define, measure, and predict fertility outcomes across the human reproductive lifespan.

Pioneering Biomarker Science in Reproductive Biology

The Journal of Fertility Biomarkers (JFB) (ISSN 2576-2818) is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to advancing fundamental understanding of reproductive biology through biomarker discovery and validation. JFB serves as a scientific platform for research exploring hormonal, genetic, molecular, and physiological markers that govern fertility, gamete quality, embryo development, and reproductive cycles.

Our mission centers on the biological mechanisms of reproduction - from molecular signaling pathways and hormonal regulation to gamete biology and embryonic development. JFB publishes original research, systematic reviews, methodological innovations, and rapid communications that illuminate the complex interplay of factors determining reproductive capacity in both women and men.

As part of the Open Access Pub family, JFB maintains rigorous peer review standards while ensuring barrier-free access to cutting-edge fertility biomarker research. Our editorial commitment to transparency, reproducibility, and scientific integrity positions JFB as a trusted resource for reproductive biologists, endocrinologists, developmental scientists, and translational researchers worldwide.

Research Scope: Reproductive Biology and Fertility Biomarkers

JFB's editorial scope encompasses the full spectrum of reproductive biology, with particular emphasis on biomarkers that can be measured, validated, and applied to understand fertility mechanisms. We welcome research investigating the biological foundations of reproductive capacity rather than clinical diagnosis or therapeutic interventions.

Reproductive Hormones

Gonadotropins, sex steroids, thyroid function, prolactin, AMH, inhibins, and hormonal biomarkers of ovarian reserve, spermatogenesis, and reproductive cyclicity.

Gamete Biology

Oocyte maturation markers, sperm quality indicators, gamete metabolomics, oxidative stress biomarkers, and cellular/molecular determinants of fertilization competence.

Embryo Development

Preimplantation embryo biomarkers, developmental stage indicators, metabolic signatures, gene expression patterns, and morphological assessment parameters.

Reproductive Physiology

Menstrual cycle biology, ovarian folliculogenesis, endometrial receptivity markers, testicular function, spermatogenesis dynamics, and reproductive aging mechanisms.

Genetic & Epigenetic Markers

Genomic variants affecting fertility, DNA methylation patterns, histone modifications, non-coding RNAs, and hereditary factors influencing reproductive capacity.

Molecular Pathways

Signal transduction in reproduction, gene regulation networks, protein biomarkers, metabolite profiling, and systems biology approaches to fertility mechanisms.

Environmental & Lifestyle Factors

Impact of nutrition, body composition, physical activity, stress, environmental exposures, and lifestyle factors on fertility biomarkers and reproductive outcomes.

Biomarker Validation Methods

Assay development, analytical validation, reference ranges, longitudinal profiling, omics technologies, and novel techniques for biomarker discovery and measurement.

Discipline Focus: JFB concentrates on reproductive biology and basic science. We publish research elucidating biological mechanisms of fertility - hormonal regulation, gamete development, embryonic biology, and physiological processes. Studies focused on clinical diagnosis, infertility treatment protocols, assisted reproductive technology procedures, obstetric care, or patient management fall outside our scope. When in doubt, authors should emphasize biological mechanisms and biomarker discovery rather than clinical applications.
Why Publish in JFB?

JFB offers reproductive scientists a specialized platform combining rigorous peer review with the visibility and accessibility advantages of open access publishing. Submission Process

JFB provides multiple convenient submission pathways to accommodate author preferences. Manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening followed by expert peer review, with decisions typically communicated within weeks of submission.

Three Submission Methods:
  • Online Form: User-friendly web-based submission with guided upload process.
  • Email Submission: Direct manuscript delivery to [email protected] with cover letter and required files.
  • Manuscript Zone: Secure author portal for submission tracking and file management throughout the review process.

All submissions should follow JFB's Instructions for Authors and include structured abstracts, keywords, ethical statements, and appropriate biomarker methodology descriptions.

Open Access Publishing Model

JFB operates on an author-pays model with Article Processing Charges (APCs) applied only after manuscript acceptance. This sustainable approach ensures immediate, unrestricted access to published research while maintaining editorial independence and review quality. Authors retain copyright under CC BY 4.0, permitting reuse with attribution.

Funding Support: Many institutions and funding agencies provide APC coverage for open access publications. Authors should consult institutional libraries or grant administrators regarding available support mechanisms. JFB also considers waiver requests on a case-by-case basis for authors facing financial constraints.

Author Testimonials

"I was impressed by the swift services of the journal and easy navigation beginning from manuscript submission to galley proof. I would recommend future authors: 'Consider this journal if you are wondering where to publish your scientific work.' They are Google Scholar indexed and so you do not have to worry if your scientific work won't reach the community of other researchers."

Naiya Patel
Long Island University

"The positive editorial attitude and cooperation were encouraging and supportive of the author. Moreover, fast response and processing of the manuscript reflect an appreciation of the time factor. In addition to the user-friendly submission system that allows for up-to-date follow-up. The review process is performed in reasonable time with constructive comments that aim to improve the paper quality. Communication in such way between the authors and the journals is not something that is common nowadays."
